
Yue Zhong is a versatile flutist based in Manhattan, NY, with roots in Virginia and Shanghai. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Washington, Seattle, studying with Professor Donna Shin.
An active orchestral and chamber musician, Yue has performed as principal flutist with the Leonore Chamber Orchestra (WA), the University of Washington Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Symphonic Band, and served as piccoloist with the UW Husky Marching Band. She has appeared in masterclasses with renowned flutists including Jonathan Keeble, Bonita Boyd, Alexa Still, and Jeffrey Barker.
Her festival credits include the Madeline Island Chamber Music Festival (WI), ARIA International Summer Music Academy (MA), and the Sewanee Summer Music Festival (TN), where she served as principal flute of the Sewanee Symphony under the direction of Yaniv Attar, Sunny Xia, Helen H. Cha-Pyo, and Robert Moody.
Yue’s performances have been broadcast on Classical KING FM 98.1 in partnership with Seattle Opera, and she has been featured with the University of Washington Wind Ensemble on national television. In 2024, she also appeared internationally in concert in Daejeon, South Korea.
Currently, Yue is pursuing her Master of Music degree at the Mannes School of Music at The New School in New York City, where she studies with Judith Mendenhall. Alongside her performance career, she maintains a private teaching studio in Manhattan and Jersey City. Fluent in both Chinese and English, Yue enjoys cooking, cosplaying, exploring the city, and digital art in her free time.
